Hey Babe!

Let's talk about E-file nail drill!

What is a nail drill?

A nail drill is a multifunctional electric tool which is perfect for buffering, grinding, sharpening, shading and cleaning the nails and the cuticle area. In short, it used for a perfect and easy machine manicure.

An electric nail drill can get the job done in much less time and in a much more efficient manner. It can also be used to remove nail extension polygels, gel polish and dip powder nails that is perfect for both salon and DIY use. Makartt's nail drills are professional grade equipment, with smooth vibrations and low volumes. These nail drills come with different types of drill bits which we will discuss further along on this blog.

The common question: What is the perfect nail drill for me?

Choosing the best nail drill for you depends on how you will use it. Will it be for professional or home use? Are you left-handed or right-handed?

Here are my recommendations based on your needs:

1. JD700 this is a professional nail drill which has a 30000 RPM. This nail drills fits 3/32 drill bits and can switch between a hand and foot operations. It includes a foot pedal where other nail techs are more comfortable using.

2. A good handheld rechargeable nail drill like the Stephanee Rechargeable Nail Drill which can operate up to 6 hours after full charge is also a great choice. The control box has a Led Display, variable speed dial, forward and reverses button. This home-use acrylic nail drill kit is equipped with high-quality bearing, which enables to work smoothly at a high & adjustable speed 0-35000rpm by rotating the variable speed control knob easily.

3. The 30000RPM Rechargeable Nail Drill Machine also comes with both forward and reverse mode, perfect for both right-handed and left-handed technicians. When charged for about 2.5 hours, this electric nail file lasts 5-hour operation time.

4. If you want a portable handheld e file, the 18000 RPM Portable Handheld E File Nail Drill Machine is a good fit for you. This rechargeable cordless nail drill e file is a perfect on-hand tool for easy machine manicure. It has six speeds ranging from 8,000 RPMs to 18,000 RPMs with LED speed indication.

Yes, I know! All these RPMs are confusing, but what is RPM?

RPM simply means Revolutions per Minute which is used to indicate the speed of something by saying how many times per minute it will go round in a circle.

Important notes:

- You don’t need to run your e file at the highest RPM. It should depend on what you are doing with the nails to prevent damage and injury to the natural nails.

- 2000-3000 RPM should only be the range when working with the natural nail

- 5000-7000 RPM should be the range when prepping the cuticles

- 8000-10000 RMP should be the range when lifting dead skin.

- 10000-15000 RPM is the exact range in removing gel polish, you can adjust the nail drill speed to a higher RPM. When working with a polygel or acrylic nails.

There are a lot of nail drill bits in the market. Depending on your nail needs, they are all available, from diamond-type bit to ceramic to carbide. The deeper we dig, the more complex it will become, but the only thing you have to keep in mind is the standard nail bits that will help you in your nail journey.

Remember: Great precision is needed when using e-file nail drills.

 Fundamentals of Electric File

- It’s essential to know if you are left-handed or right-handed. This will help you work efficiently. If you are right-handed, you must work forward, and if you are left-handed, you have to work in reverse.

- Use feathering motion: Work through the center and gently work around the nail perimeter

- You don’t need to run your e file at the highest RPM. It should depend on what you are doing with the nails. Always consider the type of area that you are working on.

- Once you are done, you can take a hand file and shape the nail easily once excess products have been removed.

Things to know:

- Anchor point – a point where something is held securely to provide stability, like your support nail when using the e file

- Torque – the force of the drill while rotating

DON'TS in using E-file Nail Drill:

  • Don’t use this technique to everybody, you must consider the condition of your nails or your client’s nails
  • Don’t put too much pressure when using a nail drill to prevent damage to the natural nails
  • Don’t rest the bit on the nail (Burning is caused by friction when you’re filing in just one spot for a long time. File evenly on a back-and-forth motion).
  • Don’t use carbide bits on the skin, it can cause injury since they are made of metal and can easily heat up.

Makartt’s nail drills are built with innovation and simplistic use in mind for technicians and customers of any skill level, desired design, precision, and user-friendly controls, perfect for salon and home use.
